As history would have it, we have seen even the best of people become corrupt ant tainted by congress. The Senate and House of Representatives was designed to reflect current voter concerns, however the more time spent in congress tends to dull these objectives and many people are led astray. Therefore, I propose term limits be enforced for the Senate and House of Representatives, for our county's sake. Currently, the Senate holds 100 members, two for each state and grows as the number of states is added. The problem lies with the Senate's six year terms and each person can serve an unlimited number of terms. The Senate is otherwise known as the "continuous body" because a portion of its members retain their seats through each election. The House of Representatives usually made up of 435 members or more serve two year terms and the Senate are redistributed every ten years. When the census is counted the number of representatives varies from state to state, depending on population. The benefits of term limits are numerous and clearly overrule the opposing side's argument. Term limits downgrades seniority, favors meritocracy, increases competition, encourages new challengers, builds a 'citizen' congress, breaks ties to special interests, improves tendency to vote on principle, introduces fresh thinking, new ideas, reduces power of staff, bureaucracy, lobbies, and lastly it will create a natural reduction in wasteful federal spending. I believe that term limits should be restricted to 8-12 years. This would get reelection rates back to near 50%, versus the current 99%. The idea is that it will open up the process, drowning in the new representatives and pushing out professional politicians. I believe that congress corrupts good people, and therefore should be controlled to give an equal opportunity to people aspiring to run for congress to make a difference. Two people i find most likely to have a simple and probable solutin are Alexander Tabarrok and Christine Barbour If you'd like some interesting websites to visite on the topic click on these: http://www.termlimits.org/ http://www.termlimitsforcongress.com/default.htm

Have you ever thought about a time when our society will become overpopulated? Teen pregnancy is at its highest rate. Futhermore, immigration rates are higher they have ever been in over 150 years.

Subliminal advertising is seen to many as hocus-pocus that has no real effect on daily life. However, the truth is disturbing. The fact is that medical professionals have identified subconscious thought to be present in people's day to day decision making. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell explains how dependent people are on the thought processes of which they are not even aware. Gladwell provides examples of cases where people's reliance on unconscious decisions saved lives. This is a natural development to the human brain, which has been taken advantage of by corporate advertisers.

If UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) passed a law that stated "Only registered organ donors can receive an organ transplant if they ever needed one," then millions of people would register as organ donors. The organ donor shortage in the United States is horrible and organs keep going to waste. The cause of this problem is that Americans have no incentive to become donors. They are willing to receive an organ if they ever needed one, but not give up their own. You don't need your organs when you die, so why do people keep them? There are many misconceptions about becoming a registered donor. Some people think doctors don't try as hard to save you in the E.R. when you're an organ donor, which is false. It's a doctor's job to save YOU and most of the time they are not informed if you are a registered donor or not. Some people think it's against their religion, but all major religions support organ donation and if organ donation is against your religion then so is organ receiving. Become an organ donor, because what if you needed an organ or your sister or your daughter did? They would probably die before they ever received one and suffer while their bad organ deteriorated. So please make a difference and register to be an organ donor today.

Net Neutrality is an important right that citizens must become informed about and stand up for. With out net neutrality, the internet as a whole could be controlled, limited and restricted by any which means your ISP deems acceptable. This means that small scale, personal websites might load slower compared to bigger sites like Google and Facebook. This is because that the bigger companies have enough money to pay the ISP for favorable and faster speeds. This means that the small time websites will get less visitors, less ad views, less revenue and will ultimately lead to the demise of small websites. This would be tragic if it were to go through and would change the internet forever.

Well to begin with hunger, many people in America alone are starving and dying of hunger. They need to be helped and fed. The second part of the topic is homelessness. if you drive in a downtown city, or past a few bridges, you see tons of people with no where to go. This is because they do not have a home. If you were in their shoes you would want help also. Homelessness is a huge problem in our communities and all across America. Also homeless people are hungry. So i believe these two topics need to be dealt with and in a timely manner. These are our American people and they need us!

We live in a country where the ideals of capitalism - most prominently the emphases on efficiency and immediate progress - have expanded out of their economic shells and invaded every facet of our culture. This has led to a population of people who are focused solely on becoming successful in their careers and making more money in less time, while individuality, creativity, morality, and community have all taken a back seat. Throughout the education process, children are impregnated with the concept of competition and are forced to draw the conclusion that the only way to win is to focus all their energy on one part of their life.

The United States before it was even thought of pilgrims traveled across the Atlantic due to religious prosecution. They fled Europe to get away from the growing tension through their religious uprising. The early pilgrims felt God had given them this land, Manifest Destiny. Now, America is in despair. The obvious of these a corrupted government, an arising debt, and an unstable economy just to name a few. With a closer look, teenagers are getting pregnant, parents are divorcing, and churches are curroding. This country needs to come back to the foundations in which it was built upon, God.

Ten years ago, 12% of the US population was age 65 or older. In another fifteen years from now, that percentage will rise closer to 20%. The baby boomer generation is the largest generation to hit America. With personal savings rate continuously declining and declining fertility rates, there are fewer people paying into social programs such as social security. Will the American government be solvent enough to protect the elderly? Will the aging be solvent enough to support themselves in the future?

"Youth marginalizaiton, if it is indeed true as so many claim that they are becoming increasingly disengaged, is the fault of a perpetual cycle whereby youth feel disconnected from current events due to lack of experience, and lack of adequate knowledge, which causes them to be less likely to get involved, and then politicians catch on to the trend of what they think as youth disinterest in politics, which causes them to largely ignore the youth category in their political campaigns." -Kaila Krayewski, 'An Introduction to Youth and Politics: how youth are disengaging from politics', suite101.com
